Adrian Light will be delivering a lecture titled ‘Architect or Toy’ at the Ahmedabad Design Week conference in India on Friday 5th February at 5pm. Lots of interesting speakers. #designweek #architecture #toy #streetart #merleauponty #dwell #trees #heidegger #cyberspace
This lecture uses the idea of the toy as it is employed in street art where when a work is considered an illegitimate representation it is sprayed over with the word ‘Toy’. I then use this idea together with the theories of the French existentialist philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty to explore how we understand the world phenomelogically through our body with the aim of discovering if un-designed spaces such as are found in nature can be considered architecture.
